What is Non-destructive Testing (NDT)?
Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed the part can still be used.
Non-Destructive Process
Components remain fully serviceable after testing
Discontinuity Detection
Identifies flaws and material differences effectively
Wide Industrial Application
Used across multiple industries and applications
Industrial Applications
NDT is used in a variety of settings that covers a wide range of industrial activity, with new NDT methods and applications being continuously developed. Non-destructive testing methods are routinely applied in industries where a failure of a component would cause significant hazard or economic loss.
Transportation
Critical safety inspections for aircraft, railways, automotive, and marine transportation systems
Pressure Vessels
Ensuring integrity of boilers, tanks, reactors, and other pressure-containing equipment
Building Structures
Structural integrity assessment for bridges, buildings, and construction projects
Piping Systems
Pipeline inspection for oil, gas, water, and chemical distribution networks
Hoisting Equipment
Safety inspections for cranes, elevators, and lifting equipment in industrial settings
Manufacturing
Quality control in production processes and finished component verification
